Conditions Affecting the Hip

Hip conditions we treat include:

  • Femoroacetabular impingement
  • Iliotibial (IT) band syndrome
  • Hip dislocation
  • Hip fracture
  • Hip impingement
  • Hip labral tear (damage to the cartilage around the hip socket)
  • Snapping hip
  • Synovitis (inflammation of the hip lining)
Hip Arthritis

Hip arthritis  is a degenerative joint condition characterized by the gradual wearing down of the cartilage that cushions the hip joint. This loss of cartilage leads to pain, inflammation, stiffness, and reduced mobility in the hip.

Hip arthritis can be a result of aging, prior hip injuries, or underlying conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. Common symptoms include hip pain that worsens with activity, difficulty walking, and limited range of motion.

Hip Bursitis

Hip bursitis is a painful condition characterized by inflammation of the bursae, small fluid-filled sacs that cushion and reduce friction in the hip joint. This inflammation can result from repetitive movements, overuse, or trauma to the hip area.

Common symptoms include pain in the outer hip, thigh, or buttocks, which may worsen with activities like walking or climbing stairs. Hip bursitis can limit mobility and impact daily activities.

Unexplained Hip Pain

Unexplained hip pain refers to discomfort in the hip joint without an apparent cause or injury. It can lead to persistent pain, stiffness, and limited mobility. Diagnosis involves a thorough evaluation, including physical exams and imaging.

Treatment focuses on symptom management through pain relief, physical therapy, and lifestyle adjustments. In some instances, further specialist evaluation may be necessary to uncover underlying factors contributing to the pain.

Procedures used to treat these conditions include:

  • Anterior approach hip replacement
  • Hip resurfacing
  • PRP therapy
  • Total hip replacement

Conditions Affecting the Knee

We see all types of orthopedic knee injuries and are well-versed in the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery for conditions such as:

  • Cartilage injury
  • Meniscus tear
  • Osgood-Schlatter disease (knee pain)
  • Patellar tendon tear
  • Patellofemoral syndrome (knee cap)
  • Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear
Knee Arthritis

Knee arthritis is a debilitating condition marked by the progressive degradation of the knee joint's cartilage, causing pain, inflammation, stiffness, and decreased mobility. Commonly associated with aging, it can also result from prior knee injuries or inflammatory diseases. Symptoms include knee pain, especially with movement, swelling, and crepitus (joint cracking).

Knee Bursitis

Knee bursitis is a painful condition characterized by the inflammation of the bursae, small sacs filled with fluid that cushion and reduce friction in the knee joint. It often occurs due to repetitive movements, overuse, or direct trauma to the knee. Symptoms include localized pain, swelling, and tenderness in the knee area, which can hinder mobility. Knee bursitis can affect daily activities and sports performance.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Tear

An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear is a common knee injury, often occurring during sports or physical activities. This crucial ligament stabilizes the knee joint, and a tear can lead to pain, swelling, and instability. It typically happens when the knee undergoes sudden twists, abrupt stops, or impacts. Diagnosis involves physical examination and imaging. Patients will also wear an ACL knee brace when recuperating.

Procedures used to treat these conditions include:

  • Knee arthroscopy for meniscus or cartilage repair
  • Knee ligament reconstruction
  • Knee revision
  • Partial knee replacement
  • PRP therapy
  • Removal of inflamed or infected synovial tissue
  • Removal of loose bone fragments or cartilage
  • Total knee replacement
  • Treatment of kneecap problems
  • Ultrasound-guided injections
  • Viscosupplementation
